An original picture encoded to a B-picture is achieved by using bidirectional prediction.( a sentence for you) A B-picture = a bidirectional picture In MPEG-2 , each frame is encoded to one of the three following kinds of pictures; an I-picture, a P-picture and a B-picture. An original frame is achieved by decoding an I-picture alone. A P-picture and a B-picture are achieved by using motion compensation. If a B-picture is lost, only one frame cannot be decoded. However, if an I-picture is lost, all the frames in the GOP ( group of pictures) cannot be decoded.
